In November 2017, Evolve Environmental Solutions was commissioned to work with Shadforths Civil Contractors to rehabilitate and repair the Grande Avenue, Springfield drainage corridor. The corridor is a major water conveyance mechanism and was heavily infested with common weed species and rubbish impacting the effective cooperation.
Initial works required extensive weed removal, followed by regular treatments to ensure long term success within the area. Success of the project was further impacted by the difficulty of the terrain and steepness of the batter requiring the Evolve Environmental fully qualified staff to utilise their skills in working from heights and ropes. After the successful weed treatment, Evolve Environmental undertook the stabilisation of the steep batters to enable a successful long term outcome by installing coir mesh to exposed batters.
Being part of an active creek system, works can be impacted by potential weather events, planning for the project took this additional issue into consideration ensuring the client was well aware of all possible outcomes. The experience and knowledge of the Evolve Environmental team minimised potential risks, throughout the entire project, enabling the successful planting into the steep batters to be done at the correct time, ensuring a high plant establishment and survival rate, so that when an inundation event occurred, no issues were encountered.
The use of coir matting on this project, assisted with the fast plant establishment achieved on this project, and with a longer than average life expectancy, contributes to the long term environmental solution delivered.
Grande Avenue is yet another example of the high quality and professional outcomes achieved by Evolve Environmental Solutions.
